For assessments, we will use two video connections at the same time to give your clinician a better view. We will use a Zoom video connection on the larger screen. We will use a FaceTime or Skype video connection on your mobile.
Before the assessment, we will schedule a brief “telecheck” to practice video calls and to make sure you have everything set up okay. You can choose to have a support person with you at the assessment to help set up if you would like.
- an internet-connected computer, laptop, iPad, or tablet with a reasonably large screen
- the Zoom or Microsoft Teams app downloaded on to this device
- a mobile phone that can access the internet
- access to wifi or sufficient data on your mobile
- Skype or FaceTime downloaded on to your mobile
- a table or flat surface you can sit a that is at least 1.5 metres in width
- a book or something similar which you can rest your mobile against so it can stand up on its end towards you

How do I prepare?
Most people prefer a bigger screen for telehealth appointments. For counselling sessions, however, it’s okay to just use your mobile phone if you would prefer.
If you haven’t used them before, we recommend practicing with the Zoom, FaceTime, or Skype apps before your appointment so you get used to them.
