Medicolegal Assessments

At PsyAx, we provide medicolegal assessments for court and tribunal hearings, personal injury and insurance claims, as well as evaluations of decision-making capacity and other legal or clinical matters.

All medicolegal assessments are conducted by senior clinical neuropsychologist Dougal Phillips, either face-to-face or via telehealth.

How much does it cost?

The fee for medicolegal assessments is $4,300 plus GST ($4,730 in total). This fee covers interview time and cognitive testing, test scoring, and report writing.

Please also note our policy of an extra documentation fee of $3 plus GST per pages which applies for material in excess of 50 pages. (There is no extra fee for material 50 pages or less.)

A cancellation fee of $900 plus GST ($990 total) applies if you cancel within two business days of the appointment or the patient does not attend.

How can I help my client prepare?

Appointments start at 9:00am and take most of the day (with breaks). Please ensure that clients are available for the whole day.

Please make sure that the client:

• is aware the assessment will go for most of the day with breaks (it helps them prepare)
• is encouraged to get a good night's sleep the night before
• is encouraged to avoid using alcohol or other substances prior to the assessment
• brings a list of any medications to the assessment
• has their glasses or hearing aids for the assessment if they use them
